This last weekend we decided to take a mini road trip to go to the Temple. Not only was it a fun trip, but we learned something. Always check the schedule online for temple closure dates. We drove down early Saturday morning, hoping to make the 10:20am session (it's a 3+ hour drive). Well, when we showed up there were no cars in the parking lot. Little weird. And then we notice that all the gates are shut. Not a good sign. After walking up to the temple door we read the sign, "Temple closed for cleaning until July 9." Oops. I was a little sad, and upset because we drove all the way and didn't get to go. But it was still fun. Really thought about the saying, "find joy in the journey" seeing that our journey and adventure in Oklahoma was fun and we didn't get exactly to the destination that we were hoping for.
While at the temple we talked with a family on a roadtrip from Arizona. It was interesting to talk to them and see the different view points. They wanted to know where all the members came from to go to and work at the temple. (There's not many large towns around). It makes you think about the dedication members have to have out here. We drove 3+ hours to go the temple where some people have temples right around the corner. This feeling was reiterated in Relief Society yesterday when we talked about worldwide sisterhood. There's dedication in members that have to travel far to serve. I'm grateful for the opportunity to strengthen our family by living out here.
So this week I'm delight in the journey, the journeys that life takes us on. I hope you can also find delightful times in your journey.
Until next week.
