Happy Much

Things that Make me Happy!

I was thinking the other day things that make me happy. So today I'm delighting in many things, so here's a small list.  And I know that I'm not going to hit them all.

  • Matt: first on the list. I am so grateful for him, and he just makes me happy. I always heard that your love more every day, and I have definitely experienced this.  Some days I just can't believe how much love there is.
  • Family: even though they are so far away, they are only a phone call away. Whether I need help with my corn from my grandpa or need to talk to my mom. Talking to them just makes me happy!
  • Friends: They are amazing. Whether it's spending all morning helping a friend take down wallpaper, texting old friends I don't see much, or friends calling from their vacation in Hawaii, it's always nice being reminded of the great friends that I have and that I mean something to them.  Also, all the new friends we've met out here, there aren't enough words to describe all the happiness they bring to us.
  • Technology: Without this, the previous two would not be possible.
  • Country Music: living in the middle states, country music makes more sense like Jason Aldean's "Fly Over States". I finally understand them and appreciate them more
  • The country: I am really enjoying not living in the big city, or the city for that matter. I enjoy being able to just take in the scenery and the fields that expand around me.  It's great out here.
  • Farm fresh veggies: YUMMY with a capital Y! So good. We've had farm fresh sweet corn so far this year. Bought 2 dozen, froze most and I'm ready to get more. There is just something about it.  A family in the ward brought us fresh cucumbers.  I'm trying to think of something great to use them for.
  • Becoming Domestic: Surprisingly, I've found a lot of joy in my little home projects: Baking, homemade yogurt, food storage, and sewing curtains.  I still have a few more on my list of things to try.  It keeps me busy and I feel great after finishing them.
I hope that you have a great week and can find some things that make you happy!

Delight in the Journey

This last weekend we decided to take a mini road trip to go to the Temple. Not only was it a fun trip, but we learned something. Always check the schedule online for temple closure dates. We drove down early Saturday morning, hoping to make the 10:20am session (it's a 3+ hour drive). Well, when we showed up there were no cars in the parking lot.  Little weird. And then we notice that all the gates are shut. Not a good sign.  After walking up to the temple door we read the sign, "Temple closed for cleaning until July 9." Oops. I was a little sad, and upset because we drove all the way and didn't get to go. But it was still fun. Really thought about the saying, "find joy in the journey" seeing that our journey and adventure in Oklahoma was fun and we didn't get exactly to the destination that we were hoping for.

While at the temple we talked with a family on a roadtrip from Arizona.  It was interesting to talk to them and see the different view points.  They wanted to know where all the members came from to go to and work at the temple.  (There's not many large towns around).  It makes you think about the dedication members have to have out here.  We drove 3+ hours to go the temple where some people have temples right around the corner.  This feeling was reiterated in Relief Society yesterday when we talked about worldwide sisterhood.   There's dedication in members that have to travel far to serve.  I'm grateful for the opportunity to strengthen our family by living out here.

So this week I'm delight in the journey, the journeys that life takes us on. I hope you can also find delightful times in your journey.

Until next week.

Relief Society

Relief Society. I'm really growing to love it more and more. Sunday was just great in Relief Society. And last night we had Relief Society activity. We learned about being prepared: temporarily, physically, and spiritually. It was great. Really got me wanting to start on being more prepared. There was also yummy food there. The refreshments were all made from food storage, and they were good. What else makes Relief Society so great is the woman. They were so welcoming and friendly. Really helping me transition into the ward. It's just wonderful. So this week I'm delighting in Relief Society and the sisters that are becoming friends!!!

Funny Story

So today I'm delighting in a funny story.

First, background info. Me and the hubby are in the process of moving so we are in temporary housing.

So yesterday I was at the bank getting some information for Matt's work. She asked if my address was still Arizona. I thought and said well maybe it's Utah. I told the teller that it's complicated right now because I'm homeless. Well the teller took it literally homeless. When I meant I didn't have a permanent home and was in temporary housing. Scared the poor lady. But she was nice and about offered her home for me to stay at. It was quite funny. The teller was super nice and friendly. Making me feel more welcome in my new town. Plus it's a funny story. But maybe you had to be there to make it more funny :-) anywho. Today I'm delighting in funny stories and miscommunication :-) happy Wednesday friends!

YIPEE!

Well today I took my only final I had this semester, Partial Differential Equations.... and the last one I may ever take! (ok so I haven't completely let go of getting masters) Kinda weird. I decided having only one final is hard. I had NO motivation whatsoever. And it was Thursday, so gave me oober long to procrastinate. But now I'm done. And what's exciting, I got an answer to every problem on the exam! Might not seem like much to you, but seeing on the last test I didn't finish, and starting the exam I was thinking "Oh don't know how to do that" for about half the problems, I'd say finishing is pretty good.

Oh, and to top today off, Matthew is coming over for traditional waffles after finals! YEAH! Well hope your finals week is going good! Let's delight in the semester being over!

Finals

So sometimes I'm supposed to be studying but I'm not. That's right now. So instead of being completely unproductive I decided to blog. This is the last finals I will ever take, and I only have 1, which means, little to no motivation. Plus there is so much more going on in my life. Like packing, moving and GETTING MARRIED!

One week from today I'll be a married woman! I cannot believe it still. It sometimes still feels so far away. Probably because I still have so much to do before that day comes... like packing, moving, finals.... But I'm not going to dwell on that. Today I delight in the 1 week countdown.

And what a better way to start it off then with the Temple.  Matt and I went to the temple this morning, and something hit me.  We were sitting in the Temple at in the 10:30 am session. And I realized, next Tuesday at 10:30am we once again will be in the Temple together, getting married. I thought that was so cool to be in the Temple exactly 1 week from when we would be married for time and all eternity! So today, like most days, I delight in being able to marry Matthew and being able to go to the Temple with him! (and our really cool date today)
